About Excel Class
At Excel Class, our mission is to help you master Microsoft and Adobe software through practical, hands-on learning.
The driving force behind our programs is Glenn Harris, a certified instructor with over 26 years of teaching experience and a deep background in finance, programming, and technology. Before founding Excel Class, Glenn worked as an analyst and Quantitative Market Strategist at top investment banks including Citibank, Bear Stearns, and Goldman Sachs. He was often the go-to expert for tech and modeling support — a role that naturally led him to education.
Glenn has taught at nearly every major adult computer training center in New York City, including TIA, Pace, NetCom Learning, and the former NYIM (now Noble Desktop). Over time, he found most schools lacked effective, hands-on instruction, so he created a new methodology. His unique approach blends official Microsoft and Adobe curricula with real-world insights, highlighting their limitations and how to overcome them. No other course offers this level of practical training.
Glenn holds numerous certifications, including Microsoft Certified Trainer, Certified Technical Trainer, and Adobe Master Instructor in both Print and Web. He also has a strong programming background, with experience in VB, VBA, PHP, HTML, and legacy languages like Pascal and COBOL. He has built over 400 websites, many with e-commerce functionality.
Though best known for Excel, Glenn’s roots are in databases. He has worked extensively with platforms like Clipper, FoxPro, FileMaker, SQL Server, and MySQL. Despite this, he insists he has no interest in becoming a database administrator — he just loves to learn.
Glenn earned his B.S. in Operations Research from the University of Rhode Island and continues to stay current with certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, Adobe, Google, and more.
